Battlefield 2042 has been roasted since launch, but the devs joined in on the memes with a new cosmetic in Season 2.

The Battlefield 2042 community has been extremely critical of the game, especially in its map design. However, the devs aren’t afraid to poke fun at themselves, including a new charm around a common complaint in the Season 2 update.

While Battlefield 2042 got off to an especially buggy start, map design was a common complaint amongst the community. They didn’t like how open and large the maps were, and it didn’t take long to notice a trend — shipping containers.

Shipping containers can be found in almost every Battlefield 2042 map and almost the entirety of Manifest is made up of them. The player base has been memeing it since launch, so DICE joined in on the fun by adding a new charm with the Season 2 update.

There have been a ton of jokes surrounding Battlefield 2042’s shipping containers, and a new wave came in when Season 2’s Stranded map was announced. With the action taking place around a crashed cargo ship, the middle is entirely filled with shipping containers.

One player joked that it should be called “Containerfield 2042, because there are 2042 containers in each map.”

DICE have heard the complaints loud and clear and poked fun at themselves by adding a new weapon charm in the Season 2 Battle Pass. The “Supply & Command” Shipping Container Weapon charm can be unlocked at Tier 86 for free in the Battle Pass so you can add even more containers to Battlefield 2042’s maps.

DICE’s Community Manager Kevin ‘T0TALfps’ Johnson tweeted out the weapon charm, saying that “We heard you liked Shipping Containers in Battlefield 2042, so we put one on a keychain!! Now you can take your “Supply & Command” Shipping Container Weapon Charm ANYWHERE!!”

Players took the joke in the spirit it was meant, with Reddit user ElmerLeo saying that DICE getting in on the joke is a “positive and funny thing.”

“Shipping containers are gonna be a battlefield thing now huh,” said KARMA-MC. “Embrace the meme [I guess].”

Alongside the new Weapon Charm, Battlefield 2042 players can also unlock the new weapons and the new Charlie Crawford Specialist in the Season 2 Battle Pass.

A brand-new Battlefield narrative campaign is being developed by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto’s new Ridgeline Games studio.

While DICE continues to support Battlefield 2042, EA have announced that the new studio from Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto, Ridgeline Games, is developing a narrative campaign set in the Battlefield universe.

Although multiplayer is what the Battlefield franchise became famous for, each game used to come with a campaign that introduced players to the game’s mechanics and the world that the large-scale multiplayer was set in.

For the first time ever, DICE opted not to include a campaign with 2021’s Battlefield 2042. Instead, it launched with Battlefield Portal, Hazard Zone, and the classic multiplayer. Now, EA have announced that the new Ridgeline Games studio are developing a brand-new Battlefield campaign.

Marcus Lehto, the co-creator of the Halo universe and Master Chief’s designer, joined EA to start a new studio back in October 2021. His studio has now been unveiled as Ridgeline Games and they’re working on a Battlefield campaign.

We're all in on the future of Battlefield! We're continuing to support #BF2042, and welcome our new studio, @RidgelineGames, who will be focusing on a narrative campaign. Read more from GM Byron Beede 👇https://t.co/RHcHYe0opc pic.twitter.com/fO7eCHNDAB

In a September 8 announcement, Byron Beede, Battlefield’s General Manager, said that Lehto will “bring his long legacy of creating fascinating worlds and gripping narratives to Battlefield” as he “[leads] the charge to develop a narrative campaign set in the Battlefield universe that will engage fans in new and exciting ways while remaining true to the classic elements of the series.”

After players thought that the campaign would be for Battlefield 2042, the devs clarified that “The new narrative campaign experience Ridgeline Games is working on is not part of Battlefield 2042. It will be set in the Battlefield universe.”

DICE will continue to support Battlefield 2042, Industrial Toys will carry on working on Battlefield Mobile, and Portal developers Ripple Effect are “focused on creating an entirely new Battlefield experience.”

This announcement also confirmed that creative director Lars ‘Mr Battlefield’ Gustavsson is leaving Battlefield and DICE to pursue new opportunities.

Even with Battlefield 2042’s poor reception, EA are still “all in on the future of Battlefield” and there are still a couple of 2042 seasons planned following the recent Season 2 update.

DICE have added another fan-favorite Bad Company 2 weapon to Battlefield 2042’s Portal mode, and here’s how to unlock it.

Battlefield 2042’s Portal brings content from previous Battlefield games to 2042 and with Season 2 now live, DICE have brought over a fan-favorite sniper from Bad Company 2.

After Season 1’s long delay, Battlefield 2042 Season 2 is finally here. The update brought new weapons, the Charlie Crawford Specialist, and the brand-new Stranded map. The AEK-971 also hit Battlefield Portal, but the devs didn’t stop there.

Releasing a small hotfix on September 5, DICE added another fan-favorite Bad Company 2 weapon to Battlefield Portal — the M95 Sniper. Here’s everything you need to know about the weapon, and how to unlock it.

The M95 Sniper Rifle was a favorite of those who loved long-range sniping back in Battlefield Bad Company 2. The last sniper players would unlock, the .50 Cal M95 Barret had the greatest one-shot kill range and excellent bullet penetration.

The M95 now joins other Bad Company 2 weapons in Portal such as the M416, GOL Sniper Magnum, and XM8 Prototype.

While the weapon is only available in Portal as of September 5, DICE have started moving classic weapons such as the M16A3 and M60 over to All Out Warfare, so there’s every chance you’ll be able to use the M95 in normal modes eventually.

Complete both of these challenges to unlock the M95 in Battlefield 2042 Portal:

Unlocking the M95 Barret Sniper Rifle isn’t too difficult in Battlefield 2042, as you just need 50 Headshot kills and 50 Intel Ribbons. Run any sniper and you should get the 50 headshot kills after playing for a while, and make sure to ping as many enemies as possible to earn Intel Ribbons.

Call of Duty players are calling for the Modern Warfare 2 developers to add one clever Battlefield 2042 feature to the game.

With Modern Warfare 2’s release date approaching fast, players are calling for Infinity Ward to implement one particular Battlefield 2042 feature in the game.

Call of Duty players have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Modern Warfare 2 which is set to introduce a new campaign, maps, movement mechanics, and game-changing water design updates.

There may also be a ton of content that hasn’t been officially revealed by the developers yet. Now, players are hoping that Infinity Ward will take inspiration from Battlefield 2042 by adding one clever feature.

DICE added a new setting to Battlefield 2042’s accessibility menu that allows you to change the screen effect of Concussion Grenades and Flashbangs. You can choose to keep it white or change it to black.

Doing the latter will replace the white flash with a “blackout” effect that covers the screen in darkness for a few moments. This received praise from Reddit user ‘drdewd’ who expressed their desire to see it added in Modern Warfare 2.

Concussion Grenades and Flashbangs turn the screen white to simulate a bright flash, but this can cause problems for players that are sensitive to light, such as headaches. The Concussion Effect option reduces the chances of that happening.

One user in this Reddit thread pointed out that Flashbangs can be extremely painful, especially when playing in a dark room. They then stated that being able to change the effect “would be a nice feature to have.”

Another commenter added that the Concussion Effect option “should be standard in all games.” If Modern Warfare 2 includes this feature, it would be extremely helpful to players with a sensitivity to the light.

At the time of writing, it remains to be seen if the MW2 developers plan to implement a Concussion Effect adjustment in the game’s settings at some point. If they do, we’ll be sure to let you know.
