WARRINGTON Rowing Club is running out of space for storing boats – and is seeking planning consent to enable them to solve the problem.

The club wants to use shipping containers on their car park, off Howley Lane, Warrington where boats can be stored.

One container has already been put in place on the car park and the club has submitted a retrospective application to regularise it, together with applications to move two more on to the site. As part of their application, the club – which already has a clubhouse and a boat house alongside the Mersey near Kingsway Bridge – indicates that it is envisaged the containers will only be used for a temporary period while money is raised to provide a permanent storage building. There is adequate room on the car park and the containers will be sited away from the clubhouse so they cannot be used to gain access to the clubhouse roof. Warrington Rowing Club, which dates from 1986, holds a popular annual regatta on the Mersey.
